Who Are We

Kanda (pronounced /Kándä/). Means: Hedge or Protection in Bachama a language spoken in Adamawa, Nigeria.

Founded in August, 2022 by Evelyn Akande.

Kanda, is a female led, junk-free, natural body care product brand.

Our products are handcrafted in small batches from locally sourced ingredients that are indigenous to Nigeria and West Africa without the use of synthetic chemicals to ensure our products are safe to use on all skin types.

Our Story

The journey of Kanda began out of personal necessity.

My son had sensitive skin that would often react, and I did not want to expose him to just any type of product because I had a passion for natural products. I would often mix shea butter and coconut oil to treat his skin and this mixture worked most of the time, but I felt there had to be more. This curiosity led me diving deep into researching the benefits and components of natural ingredients, and what I discovered was astounding.

Driven by this newfound knowledge, I enrolled for some certified natural skincare courses, and began creating products at home. I shared these creations with family and friends and their positive feedback fuelled my passion even further. This was the spark that ignited the birth of Kanda.

I realized there was a significant need for simple yet effective skincare products and as I explored the market, it became more evident that there was a gap between the

supply of synthetic body care products and natural body care products in Nigeria.

Kanda officially launched with our first line of products: Our cold press soaps. Since then, we have expanded to include various Body and Lip balms, Facial, Body and beard oils, the list goes on…

Kanda’s focus is on highly melanated skin, which historically, has been ignored by the skincare industry for years.We use ingredients that are derived from nature and indigenous to Nigeria and West Africa. We use cold press oils for our formulations to ensure that the oils retain the nutrients of the plants, making our products safe for all skin types.

At Kanda we want our customers to enjoy the amazing properties and the power of nature through the ingredients used in our products and to understand that maintaining healthy skin does not have to be complicated or expensive.
