Skincare Layering

October 3, 2023It used to be that skincare was a trend unto itself, but in a few years, skincare has become the fastest-growing category in beauty, spawning micro-trends and innovations. There’s always something new in the skincare worlds, be it a new product or new tool or new technique. We’re talking k-beauty, LED facial, pimple patches, under eye masks, chemical peels and so much more. It’s important that while we may get involved in these trends, we don’t get lost in them and we have a knowledge of what exactly we’re getting into before diving into them. For instance, with chemical peels, we can’t do those at home by ourselves we have to go in for a consultation and have a professional do it for us and the peeling process requires special care to avoid injury or irritation. While pimple patches are cute and can help flatten small pimples that pop up on our faces, they can’t really help for someone who has severe acne, much more than pimple patches would go into properly treating acne so if you tried to use pimple patches to get rid of your acne entirely you wouldn’t see much of a result. Using under eye masks in isolation won’t help get rid of dark under eyes although it may soothe the eyes and decrease puffiness but using it alongside vitamin C and an effective eye cream would yield result. LED facials have proven to yield great results and target various concerns such as skin again, fine lines and so much more but each LED light has a different concern so it’s important to know which light works best for your specific concern. Now for the k-beauty of it all, K-beauty is simply Korean beauty, a routine that gives you a nice glass skin finish that is common amongst Korean natives and it has gained large popularity in recent times with everyone wanting that glass skin effect, most k-beauty products are from Korean beauty brands and have proven to yield great results. There are so many trends we can go on and on about but knowing your skin type and what works for your skin will always be your best bet, every trend won’t work for you, just because its trending doesn’t mean its effective and even if you participate in these trends you can’t do them in isolation, you still need an effective routine that caters to your skin needs.
